Important Aspect of SEO – Keyword Research

Sunday, August 23, 2009 posted by Frank Stevens

Keyword research is a vitally important aspect of search engine optimization. Expert agree that targeting the wrong keywords is search engine suicide. By targeting the wrong keywords, you not only put valuable advertising dollars at risk, you are also throwing away all the time and energy you put into getting ranked in the first place.

One of the most common misconceptions about conducting keyword research for a search engine optimization campaign is the belief that you already know which terms a customer would use to find your site. You don’t. That said, the tools of the trade aren’t much help.

No matter what the terms are; generic phrases, existing brands, developing brands, geographical targeting, or long tail phrases SEOAssur illustrates a variety of nuances in this area of research along with many other varying factors associated with SEO strategies.

SEO Assur is a resource filled with the most powerful SEO wisdom on the planet! SEO Assur doesn’t make unsubstantiated claims as to what are the best SEO practices, we provide the empirical evidence to support or refute common SEO beliefs.

The SEOAssur website currently provides daily contribution in the following topical areas:

  • Javascript Links – Use Javascript links to limit the number of links on a page in order to send link juice to pages that need it.
  • Keyword Research – The best keyword research; "throw it at search engines with a few broadly focus link anchors & see what sticks!"
  • Link Anchors – Avoid repeating links from a resident page to a destination URL. Only the 1st link passes juice.
  • Link Strategy – It’s better to have 1 link to every page of a 100 page website than to have 100 links to the homepage.
  • Local Search – Use your company (dba) name for local search company name field; citations aren’t credit to a keyword phrase.

In addition, SEO Assur provides independent referrals for operating search engine optimization firms and consultants within the United States arranged by state and city of origin.

Why Did My Search Engine Rankings at Google Go Down

Sunday, February 1, 2009 posted by admin

If you have ever had your website near the top of the rankings for relevant search terms it can be a very heady experience. This is especially true if you are able to capture the #1 ranking for a search term related to your product or service.

A frequent question I get is, “why did my website’s ranking at Google go down?” There are usually a variety of reasons not just one reason. First of all Google rankings seldom remain static, so you better get used to the changes. Google’s search ranking algorithm is incredibly complex and always being slightly modified. Their engineer’s are continually striving to improve search relevancy. The most common reasons for changes in your search engine rankings are:

  1. Your competition is getting more and better inbound links to their site.
  2. Some of the in-bound links to your web site have been devalued.

What remedies do you have? First and most important, make sure you continually build inbound links using search related anchor text to your site. You can find out which sites are linking to your competitors and get them to link back to you. You can also create your own linking strategies. These strategies can include consistently creating new content, article writing, press releases, social networking, integrating a Word Press or Blogger.com blog into your root domain and disseminating you own RSS feed. You can also do one-way linking. As a last resort, you can do reciprocal linking with theme related sites if you are in a small niche.

You cannot be complacent about your rankings. The web is ever expanding and those companies staying on top of search engine and Internet marketing trends will continue to outrank their competitors.
